




The Court Room, which housed a real ecclesiastical court in centuries gone by, now
serves as Staverton’s Village Hall. It is a popular venue for parties, keep-
The Court Room is owned by the Staverton Parish Council but is run by a Management Committee on behalf of the community.
The George Clake Pavilion and Playing Field are located on the road into Staverton about a quarter of a mile from the station. It is the venue for the Garden Show and the Elizabethan Fayre. Is is home to the Staverton and Landscove Football Club, who run two teams during the football season and is also used as the sports ground for St Christopher’s Prep School. There is also a Children’s Playground on the site which is popular with local children.
The Pavilion and Playing Field are also owned by the Parish Council but are run by
the same Management Committee which is responsible for the Court Room. Originally,
there was just a wooden hut on the site, but in the early 1990’s the whole village
community worked together to raise £6,000 to build the new Pavilion and together
with funding from the Lottery Sports Fund, the Foundation for Arts and Sport and
South Hams District Council, a new Pavilion was built. The new building was opened
